Financial Accountant

About the role

A large Australian group with a long history, a substantial global workforce and a well-established Group Finance function is looking for a Financial Accountant. Reporting to the Head of Finance, the role sits within the group's finance team and covers month-end close, reporting and consolidation support.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review month-end journals, accruals and balance sheet reconciliations
• Compile monthly reporting packs including variance analysis and validate figures before submission
• Load and reconcile monthly submissions in the group's consolidation system
• Help with statutory reporting, tax reporting and compliance
• Maintain financial controls and suggest improvements
• Act as a point of contact for internal and external auditors
• Pick up projects across the finance team as they arise

Required profile

• Accounting experience in a corporate finance team; Big4 or mid-tier firms are encouraged
• Degree in accounting, finance or commerce, with CA or CPA completed or in progress
• Solid working knowledge of month-end, accruals and reconciliations
• Confidence in a large ERP; likes structure, attention to detail and asking questions

Required skills

• SAP is ideal, but Oracle or similar is acceptable if systems are learned quickly
• Exposure to a consolidation tool such as OneStream, HFM or BPC is a plus
