Facilities Maintainer – Fitter

About the role

The Facilities Maintainer – Fitter is a core member of a multi‑skilled team responsible for the upkeep of critical infrastructure at the Joint Defence Facility Pine Gap. You will perform technical repairs, preventive maintenance and support continuous improvement across a wide range of plant and equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Execute repairs and maintenance on mechanical, HVAC, ducting, pumps, blowers, power generation, fuel and water systems.
• Plan, organise, schedule and coordinate maintenance activities, including unscheduled breakdown response.
• Provide training, mentoring and resource management for junior team members.
• Maintain accurate records, technical plans and compliance documentation.
• Promote safety, quality and continuous improvement throughout the facility.

Required profile

• Certificate III in Engineering (Mechanical Fitter and Turner) – essential.
• Minimum 4 years post‑trade experience, preferably in shutdown maintenance or mine‑site plant.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and plans.
• Strong communication skills, customer focus and commitment to EHS principles.
• Valid driver’s licence; additional licences (White Card, Confined Space, Working at Heights, Forklift, EWPs, First Aid) are desirable.
