About the role

The Northern Territory Auditor-General's Office is seeking a strategic and innovative leader to head its Audit Services. Reporting directly to the Auditor-General, you will guide a small internal team and a network of private sector audit firms to deliver high‑quality statutory audits across the Territory.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for the annual audit programme and parliamentary reporting.
• Oversee complex, high‑risk audit and assurance engagements.
• Maintain and enhance audit methodologies, quality assurance frameworks, and performance outcomes.
• Build and sustain strong relationships with senior stakeholders across the public sector.
• Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and collaboration within the outsourced audit model.

Required profile

• Senior‑level audit experience with strong technical and practical expertise, preferably in the public sector.
• Proven executive leadership capability, with a track record of building high‑performing teams.
• Strategic, analytical and critical thinking skills, contributing to forward planning and executive decision‑making.
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement and influence abilities.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications and current membership of a recognised professional accounting or auditing body.

• Remuneration package of $233,112 per year.
