Scams Industry Lead

About the role

The Scams Industry Lead will act as a senior advisor within ANZ’s Customer Protection function, shaping the bank’s approach to emerging scam threats. Reporting to Group Operations, the role works across Melbourne and Brisbane to influence industry policy, support regulators and guide internal teams on complex scam cases.

Key responsibilities

• Represent ANZ in national industry forums and regulator meetings to influence coordinated scam‑prevention strategies.
• Provide expert guidance on the interpretation and application of scam‑related regulatory obligations, including AFCA positions and consumer‑protection expectations.
• Translate emerging policy and industry developments into actionable insights for Customer Protection teams.
• Analyse scam trends and threat intelligence to inform prevention strategies, customer education and operational enhancements.
• Advise on high‑risk or high‑profile scam cases, ensuring consistent, defensible decisions on liability, remediation and recovery.
• Collaborate with internal ANZ teams to embed scam‑related responsibilities into processes and training materials.

Required profile

• Deep understanding of scam typologies and fraud trends.
• Proven experience engaging with regulators and industry bodies on scam‑related issues.
• Strong working knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks and consumer‑protection legislation.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret complex obligations and translate them into operational guidance.
