Executive Chef - Trinity College

About the role

Cater Care is seeking an accomplished Executive Chef to lead a new food service operation at Trinity College, University of Melbourne, ahead of its January 2027 opening. The role combines culinary excellence, large-scale catering expertise and operational leadership, with a Monday to Friday roster from 10:00 am to 6:30 pm.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the kitchen operation and set standards for food quality, presentation, consistency and service delivery
• Plan and execute high-volume catering efficiently and to a high standard
• Develop refined, well-balanced menus that meet diverse dietary requirements
• Recruit, lead and mentor a kitchen team, fostering accountability, collaboration and pride
• Oversee food costs, labour, procurement, stock control and waste to drive strong commercial outcomes
• Uphold rigorous food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety standards

Required profile

• Proven experience leading professional kitchen operations as an Executive Chef, ideally in education, institutional catering or premium hospitality
• Demonstrated expertise in bulk catering, with experience in a prestigious or high-profile setting
• Strong leadership approach and commercial acumen across costing, labour, procurement and inventory
• Relevant culinary qualifications and sound food safety knowledge
