English and Literature Teacher (Senior School)

About the role

Canterbury College is seeking an outstanding English and Literature Teacher to join its Senior School from the start of the 2027 academic year. This permanent, full‑time position supports the school’s strong academic culture and its commitment to balanced, future‑focused education.

Key responsibilities

• Teach English across Years 7‑12 following the QCAA General syllabus.
• Teach Literature across Years 10‑12, developing critical reading, writing and argument skills.
• Design and deliver engaging, evidence‑based lessons that align with the school’s Four Dimensions framework.
• Assess student work, provide constructive feedback and maintain accurate records.
• Collaborate with senior staff and fellow teachers to enhance curriculum and share best practices.
• Contribute to the school’s academic community through discussion, research and professional development.

Required profile

• Qualified teacher with experience teaching English and/or Literature in a secondary school setting.
• Demonstrated success with the QCAA General syllabus and senior secondary literature programmes.
• Passion for fostering high academic standards and a love of language as a living discipline.
• Strong collegial attitude, commitment to evidence‑based pedagogy and continuous improvement.
