Education Support Teacher for Year 11‑12 Students

About the role

The Education Support Teacher will join a pool of teachers to fill permanent and fixed‑term vacancies for the 2027 school year at John Tonkin College Education Support Centre. You will work with Year 11‑12 students with intellectual disabilities, autism or complex behaviours, delivering tailored literacy, numeracy, life‑skills and VET programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Design and modify curriculum to meet individual student needs, including protective behaviours and visual arts integration.
• Lead and mentor a team of Education Assistants, creating a safe and nurturing learning environment.
• Collaborate closely with families, therapists and external agencies to enhance student outcomes.

Required profile

• Qualified teacher with registration and eligibility to work in Australia.
• Experience managing challenging behaviours and delivering specialised programmes for students with special needs.
• Demonstrated ability to reflect on practice and pursue continuous improvement.
