About the role
Legal Aid Queensland’s Civil Justice Services division is seeking an Emerging Civil Lawyer to join its targeted recruitment program. This role offers hands‑on experience, expert supervision, and professional development for lawyers passionate about civil law and social justice.
Key responsibilities
- Advocate for fairness and equity on behalf of vulnerable clients.
- Handle matters including anti‑discrimination, human rights, employment law, consumer protection, social security appeals, NDIS disputes, and farm debt mediation.
- Provide legal advice, prepare court documents, and represent clients in tribunals and courts.
- Collaborate with senior lawyers and support staff to deliver quality legal services.
Required profile
- A genuine passion for social justice and helping disadvantaged people.
- Admission or eligibility for admission as a legal practitioner in Queensland with an active practising certificate.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating fairness, empathy, and professionalism.
- Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
