Electrical Trade Assistant

About the role

JLE Group, an electrical engineering and contracting company based in Dubbo, Orange and Newcastle, is looking for Electrical Trade Assistants to join its Orange workshop. The role supports the manufacturing division in building high-voltage electrical equipment, assisting electricians with assembly and workshop tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Assist electricians with assembly of electrical boards, substations, starters and associated equipment.
• Prepare materials and components for assembly (cutting, drilling, cleaning, labelling, pre-assembly).
• Operate hand and power tools as required.
• Help with wiring preparation, cable pulling, lugging, terminating support and component mounting under supervision.
• Maintain workshop jigs, benches and work areas, and keep the workplace clean and organised (lean principles, 5S where applicable).
• Support testing and inspection activities as directed by tradespeople.
• Pick up and deliver goods and help with stocktakes when required.
• Follow all JLE Group WHS policies, procedures and safe work practices.

Required profile

• Current driver's licence.
• Construction White Card.
• Strong work ethic, reliability and punctuality; good attention to detail.
• Ability to follow instructions and work in a team.
• Positive attitude and commitment to safety.
• Desirable: previous workshop or manufacturing experience, forklift licence (or willingness to obtain one), good communication skills, and ability to work unsupervised when required.
