Driver Trainer

About the role

Aurizon is seeking a dedicated Driver Trainer to join its Jilalan depot, supporting the Coal business in the Goonyella system. The role involves mentoring and coaching trainee and qualified locomotive drivers within competency‑based frameworks to ensure safe and efficient train operations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide mentoring and coaching to trainee and qualified locomotive drivers.
• Develop supportive relationships with drivers and support training program objectives.
• Instruct and coach employees in train management, procedures and route competencies.
• Deliver and maintain training and assessment plans, reports, learning documents, logbooks and check sheets.
• Perform fair assessments of employees to high safety standards using upskilling methods.
• Plan and organise competency and learning programs.
• Perform administrative duties including maintenance of required files and training records.

Required profile

• Certificate IV in Transport and Logistics (Rail Operations) – mandatory.
• Valid ‘C’ class driver’s licence – mandatory.
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment – preferred.
• Goonyella route knowledge.
• QLD Safe Working System qualifications.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work effectively in teams and maintain accurate records.
