Dragline Superintendent - Blackwater Mine

About the role

Whitehaven Coal is seeking an experienced Dragline Superintendent to lead dragline operations at Blackwater Mine, one of Australia's most critical mining operations. Reporting to the Manager Production, the role covers safe operations, production targets and building a high-performing team, working closely with Maintenance, Technical Services and Production.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and promote a strong safety culture across all dragline activities
• Deliver dragline productivity and cost performance targets
• Provide leadership and direction to Supervisors and operational teams
• Ensure quality handover of work areas to the next process, including coal uncovery, minimising coal losses and digging ramps and walls to design
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives
• Manage production plans and coordinate dragline activities to meet mine schedules
• Build team capability through coaching, mentoring and development

Required profile

• Extensive open-cut coal mining experience and a strong track record of delivering results through people
• Significant experience in dragline mining operations
• Proven leadership capability in a mining production environment
• Demonstrated ability to lead large operational teams
• Right to work in Australia

Required skills

• Strong understanding of safety systems and risk management practices
• Excellent technical knowledge of dragline production and mine planning interfaces
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills
