Disability Support Worker - My Own Care

About the role

My Own Care is looking for a Disability Support Worker in Adelaide to support NDIS participants so they can live safely, independently and with greater choice and control. The work is in Supported Independent Living (SIL) and community and in-home settings, and the position is casual, paid according to the SCHADS Award and applicable penalties.

Key responsibilities

• Support participants with personal care and daily living activities, including meal preparation and household tasks
• Help with community access, appointments and social activities
• Encourage independence, confidence and everyday living skills
• Follow support plans, behaviour support strategies and healthcare requirements
• Provide safe, respectful support in SIL and community settings
• Complete accurate case notes and required documentation
• Support medication requirements in line with training and organisational procedures
• Maintain dignity, privacy, choice and control, and report incidents, hazards and changes in wellbeing
• Work with participants, families and the wider support team

Required profile

• Current Australian driver's licence and a reliable, insured vehicle
• NDIS Worker Screening Check, National Police Clearance and Working with Children Check where required
• Current First Aid and CPR certificates, and NDIS Worker Orientation Module
• Previous disability support experience is highly regarded; a relevant qualification is desirable
• Compassionate, reliable, professional and good communicator, comfortable working independently and in a team
