About the role
Western Sydney University’s Bathurst Rural Clinical School is seeking a Director of Rural Health to provide strategic leadership across research, education and clinical integration. The role will be based in Bathurst and will guide a highly integrated academic‑clinical environment aimed at improving rural health outcomes, workforce development and community engagement.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the development and delivery of high‑quality undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervision in rural health.
- Drive the rural health research agenda, securing external grants and publishing high‑impact papers.
- Strengthen partnerships with government health departments, rural health services, community organisations and the North Coast Medical Education Collaboration.
- Shape curriculum and workforce development strategies to support rural career pathways.
- Integrate academic, clinical and community health priorities to enhance multidisciplinary training programs.
Required profile
- Distinguished academic leadership with a strong record of research funding, publications and impact in rural health or a related field.
- National or international recognition and experience leading large programmes, teams or academic units.
- PhD in a relevant discipline.
- Proven ability to build cross‑sector partnerships and influence policy.
- Commitment to improving rural health outcomes and education.

What we offer
- Fixed‑term appointment (0.6 FTE) until March 2027.
- Annual salary $230,375‑$238,446 plus 17 % superannuation and leave loading (pro‑rata).
