Director of Rooms

About the role

The Director of Rooms will lead the Rooms Division—including Front Office, Guest Relations, and Housekeeping—at the newly opened Mondrian hotel on the Gold Coast. This senior position reports to the executive team and shapes the guest experience from arrival through departure.

Key responsibilities

• Own the end‑to‑end guest journey, with a focus on the first ninety seconds of arrival.
• Maintain brand standards through spot checks, task checklists, and service sequence audits.
• Analyse guest feedback, develop action plans, present findings to executives and close the loop.
• Personally greet VIP and loyalty guests.
• Set and achieve the Rooms Division budget, collaborating with the Director of Finance on revenue, payroll, and expenditure.
• Drive upsell strategies and manage the limousine operation as revenue streams.
• Control labour costs and productivity while preserving service standards, especially during peak and special events.
• Develop a culturally diverse team, reduce turnover, boost engagement and remove operational barriers.
• Ensure safety and compliance on every shift.

Required profile

• Senior Rooms Division leadership experience in a luxury or lifestyle hotel.
• Strong commercial literacy – ability to build budgets, read P&L statements and explain variances.
• Deep understanding of both Housekeeping and Front Office operations.
• Proactive judgement to anticipate guest needs and intuitive service mindset.
• Leadership style that builds trust across diverse teams while upholding high standards.
• Comfort operating in a lifestyle‑brand environment where personality is part of the product.
