Design Manager – Transport Infrastructure

About the role

AECOM is seeking experienced Design Managers to lead the delivery of complex transport infrastructure projects across Australia and New Zealand. You will work on multidisciplinary teams delivering rail, road, bridge and structure designs.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design delivery from concept through to construction documentation (IFC).
• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams and manage interfaces across rail, road, bridges and structures.
• Build trusted relationships with clients and stakeholders, communicating progress and risks.
• Champion design governance, safety‑in‑design, compliance and digital engineering standards.
• Manage project scope, schedule, budget and quality outcomes.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers and technical specialists.

Required profile

• Engineering background with experience in rail, road or major transport infrastructure design delivery.
• Tertiary engineering qualification (CPEng or working towards).
• Strong understanding of design processes, risk management and technical assurance.
• Proven ability to prepare design deliverables and lead quality reviews.
• Excellent communication and collaborative skills.
