Demi Chef - Full Time (In-Room Dining)

About the role

A luxury hotel in Melbourne's south-east, next to Chadstone, is looking for a Demi Chef to join its kitchen team on a full-time basis, with a primary focus on In-Room Dining. The role involves preparing and delivering high-quality dishes for guests in their rooms, working closely with the wider kitchen team. Candidates must have unrestricted working rights in Australia; sponsorship is not provided.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver In-Room Dining dishes according to hotel recipes and presentation standards
• Take ownership of your section, keeping mise en place ready and service organised and efficient
• Maintain consistent quality, flavour and presentation across every order
• Work with kitchen colleagues to ensure timely, seamless service
• Assist in other kitchen sections and outlets, including breakfast and the restaurant
• Support Conference & Events and banqueting when required
• Keep your workstation clean, organised and well-stocked
• Help with stock rotation, food storage, ordering and minimising food waste
• Follow food safety, hygiene, allergen management and workplace health and safety procedures
• Support junior team members and bring ideas and initiative to the kitchen

Required profile

• Previous experience in a professional kitchen, ideally in a hotel or premium hospitality setting
• A relevant commercial cookery qualification
• Good understanding of kitchen operations, food preparation and service standards
• Strong organisation and time management, able to work independently and manage competing priorities
• Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including evenings, weekends and public holidays
