About the role

Join the vibrant Birdie Bar & Brasserie team at Novotel Sydney City Centre as a Demi Chef. You will prepare, cook and serve dishes that delight guests in a lively restaurant environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook all food orders according to kitchen recipes and standards, maintaining a sense of urgency.
• Uphold high standards of food safety, hygiene, cleanliness and equipment care.
• Monitor stock levels, minimise waste and support effective food cost control.
• Assist with menu preparation and ensure adequate supplies for service.
• Lead by example, support the kitchen team and help train apprentices.
• Communicate proactively with the Head Chef/Supervisor to ensure smooth service.

Required profile

• Trade qualification and experience in a similar role, preferably in a hotel environment.
• Excellent technical knowledge of a variety of cooking techniques and styles.
• Passion for learning and career development.
• Valid Australian working rights.
• Flexibility to work a rotating roster including early mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays.
