Data Protection Steward – 12‑Month Fixed Term

About the role

Join ING's Data Office as a Data Protection Steward on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. Reporting to the Data Protection Lead, you will help embed privacy and data protection practices across the organisation, supporting responsible innovation for millions of Australian customers.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with business, technology, risk and data teams to embed privacy and data protection practices.
• Provide guidance on privacy obligations, data protection requirements and risk management.
• Support Privacy by Design across projects and change initiatives.
• Drive data retention, deletion and lifecycle management activities.
• Contribute to governance reporting, risk assessments and stakeholder engagement.
• Support continuous improvement of ING's privacy, data protection and AI governance capabilities.

Required profile

• Experience in privacy, data protection, data governance, risk management or information management.
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
• Knowledge of Australian privacy requirements and data protection frameworks.
• Ability to communicate complex risks and recommendations clearly.

Required skills

• Experience supporting DPIAs, Privacy by Design, RoPAs, data retention and data lifecycle management.
• Relevant certifications such as CIPP, CIPM, CIPT, AIGP, CDMP are advantageous.
