Data Center Logistics Technician

About the role

As a Data Center Logistics Technician at Microsoft in Canberra, you will manage the flow of hardware and components into and out of the data‑center facility. The role involves performing cycle audits, coordinating deliveries, handling warranty claims, and ensuring accurate inventory records while supporting the security and sustainability standards of Microsoft’s cloud operations.

Key responsibilities

• Execute inbound and outbound deliveries, including staging, verification, and documentation.
• Perform cycle audits and maintain up‑to‑date records in inventory management systems and configuration databases.
• Coordinate security escorts for third‑party vendors and manage RMA processes for failed hardware, adhering to SLAs.
• Reconcile inventory discrepancies and generate reports on asset status.
• Destroy data‑bearing devices in accordance with security and compliance policies.
• Escalate issues during high‑volume periods and work with minimal supervision.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow documented processes.
• Ability to work on‑site in a fast‑paced data‑center environment.
• Good communication skills for coordinating with suppliers and internal teams.
• Commitment to safety, security, and environmental standards.

Required skills

• Experience with inventory or asset management systems.
• Understanding of warranty and RMA procedures.
• Familiarity with handling and destruction of data‑bearing devices.
