Cyber Threat Defence Analyst

About the role

Join Macquarie’s Cyber Threat Incident Response team in Sydney as a Cyber Threat Defence Analyst. You will detect, triage, and mitigate advanced cyber threats across the firm’s global infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Actively triage alerts using Splunk, EDR platforms, PCAP analysis and other tools.
• Respond to and investigate advanced threats targeting Macquarie’s systems.
• Analyse attack trends and develop proactive defensive measures.
• Assess critical vulnerabilities and provide defensive recommendations.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of security or technology experience in large enterprise environments.
• Offensive security mindset with knowledge of threat‑actor tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs).
• Ability to perform manual, static and dynamic malware analysis.

Required skills

• Aggregate log analysis (e.g., Splunk).
• Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) platforms.
• Malware analysis techniques.
• Understanding of threat actor TTPs.
