EL1 Lead Investigator (Temporary, 12 months)

About the role

The position is a temporary EL1 level Lead Investigator role based in Brisbane, supporting the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) and partner agencies. It involves leading a team to deliver investigation objectives and ensuring high‑quality outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team responsible for delivering DVA investigation objectives, coordinating with regulatory and enforcement partners.
• Case manage and quality assure complex, sensitive investigations, producing planning documents, evidence briefs and reports.
• Develop capability through innovative investigative strategies, tools and techniques.
• Promote the department’s payment integrity framework and report on program outcomes.
• Maintain high‑level relationships with agencies such as the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and law enforcement bodies.

Required profile

• Ability to obtain and maintain Negative Vetting One security clearance and a national police check.
• More than five years of experience handling high volumes of complex investigations to a high standard.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with sound judgement and discretion.
• Australian citizenship is a condition of eligibility.

Required skills

• Advanced experience with the Microsoft Suite of products.
