Country Medical Director – Australia

About the role

GSK is seeking an experienced and strategic medical leader to serve as Country Medical Director for Australia. Reporting to the APAC Medical Leadership Team and joining the Australian Executive Team, you will lead Medical Affairs, shape strategy, and ensure high standards of medical governance and patient focus.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Australian Medical Directorate across multiple therapy areas and functions.
• Shape and execute medical strategy to support product launches, lifecycle management and improved patient outcomes.
• Provide medical leadership and governance across Medical Affairs, Clinical Research, Medical Information and Patient Safety.
• Build strong relationships with healthcare professionals, external experts, government and industry stakeholders.
• Partner with local, regional and global leaders to deliver business and patient impact.
• Develop a high‑performing, inclusive team culture focused on growth, excellence and accountability.
• Drive operational effectiveness and continuous improvement across the Medical organisation.

Required profile

• Medical qualification (MBBS/MD or equivalent) with significant pharmaceutical industry experience.
• Extensive leadership experience across Medical Affairs and related medical functions.
• Proven success leading and developing high‑performing teams in regulated environments.
• Strong strategic thinking, business acumen and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
• Deep understanding of medical governance, compliance and patient safety requirements.
• Experience operating within matrixed regional and global environments.
• Exceptional communication and influencing skills.
