Consultant or Senior Consultant – Tax Controversy

About the role

Join EY's Tax Controversy practice in Perth as a Consultant or Senior Consultant. You will work with a diverse portfolio of clients, helping them navigate complex interactions with the Australian Tax Office and state revenue authorities while developing your expertise in tax dispute management.

Key responsibilities

• Advise ASX‑listed companies, multinational organisations and high‑net‑worth individuals on tax engagements with the ATO and state authorities.
• Research a broad range of tax technical and administration matters.
• Support clients in responding to information requests during ATO reviews and audits.
• Participate in dispute resolution, including formal litigation and alternative dispute resolution.
• Draft objections, private binding ruling requests, responses to position papers, amended assessment requests and submissions related to penalties and interest.

Required profile

• Law degree and admission to practice law in Australia.
• Strong tax technical and legal research capabilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Effective time‑management and attention to detail.
• Ability to balance competing priorities.
• Experience in tax advisory or tax controversy within a Big 4, law firm or similar environment (preferred).
• Problem‑solving mindset and willingness to learn.
