Construction & Maintenance Labourer

About the role

The Construction & Maintenance Labourer supports daily road maintenance and construction activities for Mareeba Shire Council. Working outdoors on a 9‑day fortnight, the role involves operating mobile plant and performing manual tasks while maintaining a strong focus on health and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Operate council plant, machinery and vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Perform manual handling and labouring tasks for roadworks and maintenance projects.
• Maintain a safe working environment and follow WHS procedures.
• Apply correct manual handling techniques and adhere to safe work practices.
• Work in hot and humid conditions, ensuring personal fitness and weight compliance with equipment SWL.

Required profile

• Physical ability to undertake extended manual handling in hot, humid conditions.
• Ability to work with limited supervision in a team environment.
• Current Queensland MR or HR class driver’s licence.
• Queensland Construction Industry White Card.
• Eligibility to obtain Queensland Traffic Control Accreditation.
• Australian or New Zealand citizenship.
• Successful completion of a pre‑employment medical assessment.
