Community Engagement Manager – Data Centres

About the role

Anthropic is seeking a Community Engagement Manager in Australia to act as the on‑the‑ground liaison for its data centre projects. You will build trust with local stakeholders from site selection through construction and long‑term operation, ensuring the company is seen as a valued neighbour.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute community engagement strategies for each market, covering site selection, pre‑development, construction, and ongoing operations.
• Build and maintain relationships with local councils, state agencies, community groups, educational institutions, and workforce partners.
• Represent Anthropic at public forums, town halls, planning hearings, and media events.
• Coordinate charitable donations, community investments, and manage not‑for‑profit partnerships.
• Partner with Real Estate, Infrastructure, Communications, Energy and Sustainability teams to integrate community input into project planning and messaging.

Required profile

• 7+ years of experience in community affairs, public policy, economic development, or related fields, preferably with data centre, utility, or large‑scale infrastructure projects.
• Proven ability to build coalitions and earn trust with diverse stakeholders, including elected officials and council staff.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of translating technical plans into plain language.
• Independent worker who can manage multiple engagements across regions and travel up to 50% of the time.

Required skills

• Experience engaging with local councils and state governments on infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of land use, zoning, and planning approval processes.
• Ability to represent a company credibly in public settings such as hearings and press interviews.
