Communications Specialist

About the role

Ronald McDonald House Sydney is seeking a Communications Specialist to turn powerful family stories into compelling fundraising and awareness content. You will work closely with families, ambassadors, and internal teams to create narratives that inspire support for children and families facing serious illness.

Key responsibilities

• Develop donor journeys, EDMs, and fundraising communications.
• Write campaign copy, appeals, stewardship messages, and website content.
• Build trusted relationships with families to source case studies and impact stories.
• Coordinate photography and video opportunities with the Visual & Content Designer.
• Implement and manage an Ambassador Strategy across celebrity, corporate, family, and community ambassadors.
• Manage media agency relationships and identify media opportunities.
• Support grant writing, partnership proposals, and capital campaign communications.
• Review organisational communications to ensure consistent tone of voice and brand messaging.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of experience in communications, public relations, fundraising communications, or content development.
• Outstanding writing, editing, and storytelling abilities.
• Proven ability to build genuine relationships with families, supporters, and stakeholders.
• Strong organisational skills and capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Creative mindset with a passion for finding stories that inspire action.
• Experience in media, ambassador, or advocacy programmes (desirable).
• Background in the not‑for‑profit sector (desirable).
