Communications Advisor – Noise Amelioration Program

About the role

We are seeking a proactive Communications Advisor to support the Noise Amelioration Program at Melbourne Airport. You will ensure that information shared with participants, the community, government, media and other stakeholders is accurate, authentic, accessible and consistent.

Key responsibilities

• Manage media enquiries, draft timely responses and liaise with journalists about the program.
• Develop speeches, briefing notes and internal communications for senior leaders.
• Create community‑focused content on project milestones, consultation opportunities and delivery updates.
• Support the community engagement team in planning and delivering public events.
• Provide communications support during crisis‑management situations.
• Collaborate with the digital team to produce engaging social‑media posts, manage interactions and maintain website content.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Communications, Journalism or a related field.
• Proven experience writing clear, concise copy for media or customer‑facing organisations.
• Ability to work under pressure with internal and external stakeholders.
• Proactive and reactive problem‑solving with sound risk‑assessment and strategic advice.
• Confidence engaging senior stakeholders and navigating complex relationships.
• Strong understanding of the evolving digital and media landscape.
