Communication and Community Engagement Coordinator

About the role

The Communication and Community Engagement Coordinator will lead the development and delivery of Council’s communication and community engagement strategy. This role works closely with residents, NGOs, and government partners to ensure transparent, inclusive decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a planned approach for community engagement and communication across the Council.
• Design, deliver and evaluate communication initiatives, including digital content and social‑media campaigns.
• Facilitate partnerships with community groups, non‑government organisations and other government agencies.
• Provide clear, targeted information to the community and key stakeholders.
• Produce reports, briefings and public‑facing materials to support Council decisions.

Required profile

• Qualifications in media, communications, community engagement or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience developing communication and community‑engagement strategies.
• Demonstrated ability to plan, deliver and evaluate engagement initiatives.
• Strong written and verbal communication, public‑speaking and report‑writing skills.
• Commitment to working respectfully with diverse community groups.
• Current Class C driver’s licence and a valid Working with Children Check.
• High proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

• Salary range $3,577.40 – $3,845.71 per fortnight (Grade 12).
