Commercial Officer – Defence EWIS Joint & Air SPO

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Defence Commercial Officer to support the Electromagnetic Warfare Intelligence Systems (EWIS) Joint & Air SPO (L156) in Canberra. The role provides commercial oversight for acquisition and sustainment of critical electronic warfare capabilities for the Australian Defence Force.

Key responsibilities

• Support Defence tender development and evaluation using the ASDEFCON contract suite.
• Assist with procurement planning, documentation and internal approvals.
• Provide commercial and contract management support across acquisition activities.
• Engage with subcontractors, conduct due diligence and manage ongoing relationships.
• Identify and manage commercial risks, opportunities and issues.
• Support contract administration, financial management and procurement compliance.
• Prepare commercial reports and maintain accurate project documentation.
• Collaborate with Defence stakeholders and project teams to deliver commercial outcomes.
• Contribute to project planning and additional project activities as required.

Required profile

• Strong commercial management and contract administration experience within Defence.
• Experience supporting Defence acquisition or sustainment programmes.
• Understanding of Commonwealth Procurement Rules and Defence procurement processes.
• Experience working with ASDEFCON contracts.
• Minimum NV1 AGSVA Security Clearance (willing to upgrade to NV2).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
