Commercial Manager – NSW & ACT

About the role

Aurecon is seeking a Commercial Manager for NSW & ACT to join the regional leadership team. You will embed strategic financial plans, provide commercial insight and ensure robust controls to achieve regional objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Act as senior finance business partner to the Managing Director, Service Group Leaders and Operations Director.
• Develop and oversee financial and commercial strategies, monitor delivery against goals and translate performance into actions.
• Own regional business planning, reforecasting, monthly reviews, reporting, analysis and commentary.
• Provide commercial input into bids and proposals, balancing risk and reward.
• Oversee regional project financial performance, including setup, revenue, billing, forecasting, cash position and cost‑to‑complete reviews.
• Identify trends, risks and opportunities from financial, backlog and pipeline data and recommend initiatives.
• Drive positive working capital outcomes through regular insights and cash forecasting.
• Maintain robust financial controls and ensure accurate internal and external reporting.
• Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team across business analysis, commercial advisory, project accounting and workplace services.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualifications with CA, CPA or equivalent professional qualification.
• Significant finance and commercial experience in professional services or consulting, preferably engineering or project management.
• Proven success driving revenue, profitability, cash flow and working capital outcomes.
• Strong business acumen and ability to link finance initiatives to business strategy.
• Experience interpreting complex quantitative and qualitative information and providing practical recommendations.
• Ability to operate in a matrix organisation and influence outcomes.
• Confident stakeholder engagement skills with senior leaders.
• Knowledge of financial and commercial policies, governance, controls and project financial management.
• Continuous‑improvement mindset to strengthen systems, processes and capability.
