Clinical Team Lead Pharmacist (Fixed-term)

About the role
We are seeking a Clinical Team Lead Pharmacist to oversee clinical pharmacy services within the Critical Care or Medical stream at Northern Beaches Hospital. This 12‑month fixed‑term position reports to the Deputy Director of Pharmacy and provides an opportunity to lead a multidisciplinary team while supporting high‑quality, safe medication use.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate clinical pharmacy services across the assigned specialty area (Critical Care or Medical).
- Provide advanced clinical pharmacy input to optimise patient outcomes and support workload prioritisation.
- Supervise, mentor and train pharmacists, interns and technicians, and develop a high‑performing team.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to service improvement, quality initiatives and workforce planning.
- Manage medication‑related operational issues such as shortages, recalls and supply challenges.
- Support Quality Use of Medicines (QUM) activities, policy development and governance committees.
- Critical Care Lead responsibilities include managing the smart drug‑pump library and its rollout with the Single Patient Digital Record (SDPR) system.
- Participate in the monthly Heart Failure Clinic, providing clinical recommendations.
Required profile
- Current registration as a pharmacist in Australia.
- Significant experience in clinical pharmacy within a hospital setting, preferably in Critical Care or Medical streams.
- Proven leadership or team‑lead experience in a pharmacy environment.
- Strong communication and collaborative skills with multidisciplinary teams.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and patient safety.
Required skills
- Clinical pharmacy practice and medication management.
- Management of smart drug‑pump libraries.
- Use of digital health records, specifically the Single Patient Digital Record (SDPR) system.
- Familiarity with Epic Pharmacy systems.
- Quality Use of Medicines (QUM) processes and governance.
