Clinical Nurse Specialist - Ophthalmology Surgery

About the role

Calvary Riverina Surgicentre is recruiting a permanent full-time Clinical Nurse Specialist in Ophthalmology surgery. The role offers a Registered Nurse the chance to develop their skills, knowledge and expertise in ophthalmology surgery, working with the peri-operative and wider hospital team and supporting the Perioperative Services Manager in delivering high-quality, patient-focused care.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver competent basic nursing practice and direct care in complex nursing situations
• Work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
• Provide education and training in ophthalmology perioperative skills to the theatre team
• Delegate, direct and supervise aspects of care according to others' competence and scope of practice
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical and administrative documentation
• Support education, knowledge and skills-based training
• Take part in quality improvement activities and monitoring
• Work closely with Ophthalmology VMOs on preferences
• Manage equipment and inventory and liaise with medical representatives and companies
• Commit to ongoing professional development

Required profile

• Registration with AHPRA and a current practising certificate
• Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain one
• Recent experience in Ophthalmology
• Demonstrated decision-making and delegation skills
• Ability to work with key stakeholders
