Staff Specialist / VMO – Anaesthetics

About the role

An exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated and qualified Staff Specialist or Visiting Medical Officer in Anaesthesia to join the dynamic team at Wagga Wagga Base Hospital, providing comprehensive specialist anaesthetic services across the Murrumbidgee Local Health District.

Key responsibilities

• Provide evidence‑based anaesthetic care for surgical and procedural patients across MLHD sites.
• Supervise and educate junior doctors and clinical staff, contributing to high‑quality education.
• Participate in on‑call roster and occasional regional sessions, responding on‑site as required.
• Contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement and departmental administration.

Required profile

• Specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia in Anaesthesia (or equivalent overseas pathway).
• Strong communication, leadership and a patient‑focused approach.
• Commitment to teaching, education, patient safety and alignment with NSW Health CORE values.

Required skills

• Anaesthesia clinical expertise, including trauma and emergency scenarios.
• Proficiency in using clinical information systems.
