Clinical Nurse – Advanced Mental Health Practice

About the role

The Clinical Nurse provides advanced level clinical mental health services to adults with severe and enduring mental health needs within a community setting. This role involves assessment, treatment planning, intervention and evaluation as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver direct clinical services including assessment, diagnosis, formulation, treatment planning and case management.
• Maintain high‑level communication with multidisciplinary team members, consumers and carers, and participate in team committees.
• Provide supervision, preceptorship, mentoring and student supervision for less experienced staff.
• Monitor and report on clinical outcomes and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with AHPRA registration and relevant qualifications.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment and adhere to the Mental Health Act 2016 and related legislation.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuing education.

Required skills

• Core discipline assessment, diagnostic and formulation skills.
• Treatment planning and case management expertise.
• Knowledge of relevant mental health legislation and standards.
