Claims Consultant – Group Multi Fund

About the role

TAL, a life insurer backed by Daiichi Life, is hiring a Claims Consultant for its Group Multi fund. You will manage life insurance claims from start to finish, giving customers a seamless experience. The Group Multi portfolio is complex because of the age and variability of policy terms, so the role requires careful interpretation of legacy policy terms and multiple layers of policy changes to determine member entitlement.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver a high-quality customer and client experience, including regular updates on claim status and managing expectations, to achieve quality health and claim outcomes.
• Independently manage a portfolio of TPD and IP claims end to end.
• Assess, analyse, calculate and finalise claims payments.
• Engage external treating doctors, rehabilitation consultants and in-house medical and legal specialists, delivering timely outcomes.
• Provide customer service in line with the company's philosophy, policy and claims procedures.
• Take part in case conferences and peer case discussions, and instruct third-party service providers.

Required profile

• Life insurance claims management experience within Group policies, with IP and/or TPD claims experience ideally.
• Alternatively, workers compensation or return to work claims management experience with an allied health background.

Required skills

• Strong analytical, problem-solving and time-management skills.
• Excellent communication and empathy to support customers during difficult times.
• Solid understanding of injuries, illnesses and treatment.
