Children's Contact Service Practitioner

About the role

Each is hiring a Children's Contact Service Practitioner (also called Supervised Contact Worker) in Ringwood, on the lands of the Wurundjeri People. This is a casual role with hours including weekend work, based at the Ringwood centre. The service provides a calm, welcoming environment where children can maintain or re-establish relationships with their parents after separation, through supervised visits and facilitated changeovers.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct intake assessments to determine suitability for the service
• Supervise visits and facilitate changeovers
• Maintain and intervene as necessary to ensure the emotional, psychological and physical safety of children
• Maintain accurate observational notes and documentation
• Liaise with legal representatives and prepare court reports as required
• Communicate with families in a respectful, child-focused and empathetic manner

Required profile

• Minimum tertiary qualification in Community Services, Social Work, Human Services, Welfare, Family Studies, Child, Youth and Family Intervention, Counselling, Psychology or Behavioural Science
• Experience in child-focused casework, intake and assessment, and working with families in crisis or under stress
• Understanding of the impact of family violence and mental health on children's wellbeing, and knowledge of the psycho-social stages of separation and family dynamics
• Previous experience in a Children's Contact Service or Intake and Assessment role is a standout feature
