Child Care Cook

About the role

St Nicholas Early Education is looking for a Child Care Cook for its Chisholm service. The cook plans and provides a balanced, varied diet for the children attending the centre, working with the Centre Director and the Educational Team. The position is permanent and part-time, at 20 hours per week.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and prepare meals for the children, considering nutritional requirements, cultural and religious differences and additional needs
• Store and prepare food in compliance with health regulations at all times
• Collaborate with the Centre Director and Educational Team on meal planning

Required profile

• Experience with food preparation and orders
• Experience working with children (desirable)
• Working with Children Check verification number
• Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
• Menu Planning and Food Handling qualification
• Current First Aid Certificate and Child Protection Training
• A qualification in Early Childhood Education (desirable)
• Anaphylaxis and Asthma Management training (desirable)

Required skills

• Basic computer literacy
• Excellent verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated understanding of the National Quality Framework (NQF) and the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF)
• Understanding of workplace health and safety issues (desirable)
