Chief Technology and Product Officer

About the role

Innova Search, a private equity-backed B2B SaaS business operating across Australia, is looking for a Chief Technology and Product Officer. The role combines technology and product in one seat, covering engineering, product, IT operations and security for a function of around thirty people, reporting to the CEO with the investor close to the appointment. The business is fully remote and the role is open anywhere in Australia.

Key responsibilities

• Own technology and product together, directing and aligning engineering, product, IT operations and security
• Lead the architectural conversation and keep the technical respect of a long-tenured engineering group
• Grow the platform while the cost line holds, knowing the signals that show it is holding
• Move teams from mixed new build and BAU work toward more new build
• Supply technical strategy and tie it to the commercial plan
• Carry information security in front of enterprise customers, with an existing security function behind you

Required profile

• Commercial ownership of the technology cost line under private equity conditions
• Web application experience at real scale, deep enough to lead architecture yourself
• Track record of improving delivery in a scaling product organisation
• Practical judgement on AI, including the confidence to call out where it is oversold
• Credibility on information security with a risk-averse enterprise customer
• Stakeholder management to win over a capable, long-tenured team
• Experience running a remote organisation; a first-time CTO with the rest of the profile is realistic
