Chef - School Food Service

About the role

Compass Group's Chartwells division provides fresh food solutions for independent schools and universities, supporting the well-being of students. This full-time Chef position in Brisbane involves preparing and delivering fresh, high-quality meals for school students and events, working alongside a professional kitchen team. Weekend work is done at penalty rates.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver fresh, high-quality meals for school students and events
• Lead daily kitchen operations while maintaining safety and quality standards
• Mentor and support kitchen staff, fostering a positive, service-focused culture
• Ensure full OH&S compliance, following safe work practices and food handling procedures
• Manage stock levels and ordering to meet budget requirements
• Support the training and development of apprentices and junior chefs

Required profile

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent)
• Experience as a Chef
• Ability to obtain a Blue Card (paid)
• Team player who can also work independently

Required skills

• Bulk cooking with a strong focus on quality and presentation
• Time management and attention to detail
• Food safety knowledge
