Chef & Cook – Full-Time

About the role

Hobart Deli and SomeDay Coffee Co, a neighbourhood café in Perth's inner suburbs known for its specialty coffee, all-day brunch and considered service, is looking for a Chef and a Cook. You will be pivotal in ensuring the highest food quality standards, presentation and customer satisfaction. The position is full-time, paid $79,500-$90,000.

Key responsibilities

• Chef: lead and manage the kitchen team efficiently, maintain a good kitchen culture and use and improve existing routines
• Chef: plan seasonal menus creatively and forecast kitchen needs through ordering and job planning systems
• Chef: keep the kitchen clean and organised, following food safety and sanitation guidelines
• Chef: manage inventory, order supplies and coordinate with suppliers for fresh ingredients; train and mentor junior staff
• Cook: season, prepare and cook food, store it in temperature-controlled facilities and present dishes consistently
• Cook: help with menu development and daily specials, manage stock rotation and monitor inventory
• Cook: maintain kitchen hygiene and food safety in line with council requirements

Required profile

• Chef: Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent, around 2-3 years of relevant experience
• Cook: Certificate III with at least one year of relevant experience, or Certificate IV; 3 years of experience may be accepted instead of the qualification
• Both roles: Food Safety Supervisor certificate and RSA where alcohol is served
