Capital Procurement Specialist

About the role

Alcoa is looking for a Capital Procurement Specialist to join the Portland Aluminium Smelter in Victoria. This permanent, site‑based position supports a growing portfolio of capital projects, ensuring the timely and cost‑effective sourcing of materials, equipment and services.

Key responsibilities

• Own the end‑to‑end sourcing and contract award process for capital projects, from planning and tendering to contractor selection and onboarding.
• Collaborate with on‑site capital teams, engineering partners, Legal and the Perth procurement function to ensure compliance with Alcoa terms and delivery against scope, schedule and budget.
• Manage multiple tender packages simultaneously, prioritize competing deadlines and engage senior stakeholders confidently.
• Provide visibility and autonomy within a small, expanding capital procurement team, with potential to progress to a site‑lead role.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Strategic Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, Business or Engineering (beneficial).
• Several years of experience as a Procurement Buyer in smelter, mining, manufacturing, oil & gas or other heavy‑industry environments.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team and support colleagues.
