Business Development Manager - Equipment Hire

About the role

A senior Business Development Manager is sought to lead the growth of APS's compressed air rental and equipment business across New South Wales, operating from the Smithfield branch. The role builds relationships with contractors, project teams and decision-makers in the civil and construction sectors, turning industry connections into sustained revenue growth. It suits an experienced hire industry sales professional who wants autonomy and direct access to leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a sales strategy across NSW
• Build relationships with civil contractors, construction firms and infrastructure project teams
• Identify upcoming project opportunities and grow existing customer accounts
• Convert opportunities for capital equipment sales alongside rental solutions
• Deliver capability presentations and solution proposals to project teams and senior stakeholders
• Partner with internal hire, sales and service teams so customer commitments are delivered
• Monitor market activity, competitors and emerging opportunities
• Manage sales pipelines and forecast opportunities

Required profile

• Proven business development or account management experience in equipment hire, rental or construction services
• Established relationships with civil contractors, infrastructure companies or construction project teams
• Experience identifying and securing project-based opportunities in construction
• Experience selling equipment, plant or technical solutions is highly regarded
• Confidence presenting to site teams and senior decision-makers
• Strong commercial acumen, able to communicate value beyond price
• Technical aptitude and interest in mechanical equipment or compressed air solutions
• Not suited to junior sales candidates or those without hire or construction experience
