Business Development Manager - Construction Products

About the role

A Brisbane-based Australian manufacturer and distributor of premium construction products is recruiting a national Business Development Manager. The role has genuine commercial scope, reports directly to the COO and sits within a company that is already operating internationally, with field sales teams in the United States and an expanding European presence. The vacancy is advertised by the executive search firm Arete Executive.

Key responsibilities

• Steward a portfolio of about 30 key national accounts, the backbone of the business
• Deepen and expand relationships with major wholesale groups and trade partners (roughly two thirds of the role)
• Develop new business by identifying specifiers, engaging builders and contractors and broadening the product range sold to existing clients (roughly one third of the role)
• Spend meaningful time in the field across Australia, using a purpose-built mobile showroom for on-site presentations
• Represent the brand at domestic and international trade shows, including those in Germany, France and the USA

Required profile

• Natural relationship builder who enjoys being in the field and meeting builders, tilers, architects and category managers
• Background in selling technical or trade products in the construction or building products sector
• Commercially astute, self-directed and entrepreneurial, able to manage their own territory and hold themselves accountable for results
• Brisbane based is preferred, but candidates in Sydney or Melbourne will be considered
• Unrestricted working rights in Australia; pre-employment checks are required

• Tech savvy and comfortable in a CRM
• Ability to contribute to a broader commercial strategy
