Building Consultant – Technical Inspection & Reporting

About the role

CRD, a division of Crawford, is seeking an experienced Building Consultant to provide technical guidance to insurance clients. You will conduct thorough building inspections, assess a range of insurance claims and translate findings into detailed technical reports.

Key responsibilities

• Perform on‑site building inspections (≈40% of time) and complete reports within 3‑4 weeks.
• Assess insurance claims including storm, fire, bushfire, impact, water damage and liability.
• Prepare high‑quality technical building reports using Word and Excel.
• Maintain strong client relationships and communicate findings clearly.
• Collaborate with internal teams to support business growth.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years experience in building consultancy, construction, estimating or supervision on an insurance panel.
• Registered building practitioner (engineer, building inspector, surveyor, quantity surveyor or builder).
• Excellent written and verbal communication with a customer‑focused attitude.
• Ability to manage competing demands in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Strong knowledge of building regulations, codes and standards.
• Technical report writing and interpretation of complex building issues.
• Building inspection and assessment expertise.
