Bookkeeping Manager – Hybrid (Brisbane)

About the role

This is a senior leadership position within a fast‑growing specialist accounting firm serving the building and construction sector. You will own a portfolio of bookkeeping clients, lead an offshore team, and ensure high‑quality delivery while maintaining strong client relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and mentor up to 5 offshore bookkeeping staff.
• Manage workflow, deadlines and resource allocation across the team.
• Act as the primary contact for assigned clients, handling escalations and relationship management.
• Review bookkeeping work for accuracy, completeness and compliance.
• Oversee bank reconciliations, payroll, BAS, IAS, PAYGW, PAYGI, TPAR and superannuation obligations.
• Support software integrations, conversions and system transitions.
• Train staff on Xero, payroll, awards and ATO reporting requirements.
• Liaise with the ATO on payment plans, penalty remissions and compliance matters.
• Collaborate with the Client Director on performance, development plans and service standards.

Required profile

• 6+ years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in public practice.
• Proven experience supervising at least two staff members.
• Strong client‑facing skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Practical, organised and client‑focused approach.

Required skills

• Xero (Advisor and Payroll certifications).
• Intermediate to advanced MYOB, QuickBooks or Dext.
• Payroll processing and statutory reporting (BAS, IAS, PAYGW, PAYGI, TPAR, superannuation).
• Bank reconciliations and ATO liaison.
• Software integrations and system conversions.

What we offer

• Competitive base salary $110,000‑$115,000 plus superannuation.
• On‑target earnings structure that can exceed $200,000.
