Biomedical Engineer

About the role

Reporting to the Biomedical Engineering Manager and working within a small dedicated team, you will oversee the maintenance, testing and repair of medical equipment at Sydney Adventist Hospital. The role ensures compliance with Australian Standards and NSQHS requirements while supporting patient safety and clinical operations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain, test and repair a wide range of medical devices, performing routine testing in patient areas.
• Inspect new and repaired equipment for safety and functionality, removing unsafe items and reporting issues.
• Collaborate with internal teams, respond to inquiries and provide feedback on equipment purchases.
• Maintain accurate service records, order parts and keep the workspace clean and compliant with hospital and safety policies.
• Follow Workplace Health and Safety principles and report accidents, injuries or hazards within 24 hours via Riskman.

Required profile

• Formal qualification in Biomedical Engineering.
• Experience in a hospital biomedical engineering environment or with a medical device service provider (new graduates are welcome).
• Familiarity with Australian Standards applicable to medical equipment.
• Understanding of hospital operations and medical equipment.
• Proven customer‑service experience and ability to work effectively in a small team.

Required skills

• Experience with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) such as MS Dynamics Field Service.
• Ability to use CMMS tools for work order management and parts ordering.
