Associate/Professor of Chronic Care & Ageing

About the role

The Sydney Medical School is seeking an outstanding academic leader to join the Westmead Clinical School as an Associate Professor or Professor of Chronic Care and Ageing. This senior position will guide a nationally recognised research and education programme focused on chronic disease, frailty, multimorbidity and healthy ageing.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and expand interdisciplinary research programmes on chronic disease and ageing.
• Develop and deliver curriculum and training for clinicians and researchers.
• Mentor and supervise higher degree by research (HDR) students.
• Strengthen partnerships with university departments, health services, government and industry.
• Translate research findings into innovative models of care and improved health outcomes.

Required profile

• Medical qualification registrable in Australia with a specialist credential (e.g., FRACP).
• PhD or equivalent higher degree with a strong publication record.
• Demonstrated success in obtaining competitive research funding.
• Proven leadership in chronic disease or ageing research programmes.
• Experience supervising HDR students and mentoring emerging clinician‑researchers.
• Ability to collaborate across disciplines and sectors.
