Associate – Technology, Media & Telecommunications

About the role

Maddocks is seeking an Associate with 3+ years post‑qualification experience to join its Technology, Media & Telecommunications (TMT) team. The role involves advising public and private sector clients on complex technology, privacy, cyber and telecommunications matters.

Key responsibilities

• Provide privacy compliance advice and conduct complex privacy impact assessments.
• Assist with cyber incident response and advise on critical infrastructure security.
• Navigate surveillance laws and support clients on emerging technologies such as AI, biometrics and facial recognition.
• Develop policies and ensure regulatory compliance for digital platforms and technology procurements.

Required profile

• 3+ years PQE experience in technology and privacy law, preferably within a specialised TMT practice.
• Client‑focused approach with strong commercial awareness of sector drivers.
• Exceptional drafting skills and attention to detail.
• Independent thinker comfortable learning new concepts quickly.

Required skills

• Privacy compliance and data protection expertise.
• Cybersecurity and incident response knowledge.
• Understanding of critical infrastructure and surveillance legislation.
• Familiarity with emerging technologies and digital platforms.
