Associate, Corporate Coverage

About the role

Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) is seeking an Associate, Corporate Coverage to join its Sydney office. The role supports relationship management across the Diversified Industries, Resources, Utilities, Infrastructure and Transport (DI/RUIT) sectors, working closely with Relationship Managers and Directors on a portfolio of institutional clients. It sits at the heart of client engagement, transaction execution and strategic account planning.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as a secondary point of contact for the coverage of institutional clients in the DI/RUIT sectors.
• Act as the primary liaison between Portfolio Management, Credit and Product teams.
• Lead research and analytics initiatives to support the origination of new business.
• Coordinate transaction execution by supporting deal teams across a range of structures and products.
• Manage internal processes including strategic account planning, pipeline management and KYC procedures.
• Support client onboarding by preparing pitch presentations with Relationship Managers and product teams.
• Respond promptly to customer requests and engage directly with customers when required.
• Build stakeholder relationships across Portfolio Management, ICD, Product, Risk, Legal and KYC teams.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in finance or commerce; post-graduate qualifications are highly regarded.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in banking or finance, with preference for exposure to client coverage.
• Demonstrated knowledge of DI/RUIT markets and familiarity with relevant deal structures.
• Broad understanding of debt capital markets, transaction banking, global markets, ESG finance, project finance and leverage and acquisition finance.
• Strong stakeholder management, organisational and customer engagement skills.

Required skills

• Advanced MS Office, with particular strength in Excel for data analysis and PowerPoint for presentations.
