Assistant Night Manager

About the role

Sofitel Sydney Wentworth, a 436-room luxury hotel blending classic European style with French-inspired hospitality, is building its night team. As Assistant Night Manager you will lead the night shift, supervising the Night Auditor and the team across Front Office, lobby, portering and in-room dining, and act as the senior voice in the Night Manager's absence.

Key responsibilities

• Run a safe, secure and seamless overnight operation, supervising the Night Auditor and team across Front Office, lobby, portering and in-room dining.
• Complete and oversee the night audit in Opera PMS, keeping transactions balanced and finalised on time, with control of cash, credit and high-balance accounts.
• Handle overbookings, security incidents, intoxicated guests and complaints with sound judgement and empathy.
• Maintain a visible lobby presence, greet guests, inspect public areas and back of house, and keep the property running to Sofitel standards.
• Brief, coach and train night team members, and give a clear operational and financial handover to the day team each morning.

Required profile

• Front office or night audit experience in a hotel, ideally luxury.
• Confident knowledge of night audit, cash handling, credit control and banking.
• Experience leading a team overnight with limited senior support.
• Calm, professional approach to complaints and security incidents.
• Current NSW RSA and First Aid certificate (required).
• Excellent written and spoken English; a second language is an advantage.
• Availability for overnight shifts, weekends and public holidays.
• Full working rights in Australia are required.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Opera PMS or a similar property management system is desirable.
